Public Health Sudbury & Districts issues sewage system permits under the Ontario Building Code (OBC). We also review and comment on land severances, zoning, and minor variances.
Sewage system permits for all classes of systems are required for new installations except Class 1 systems (privies, outhouses). Permits are also required for sewage system replacements or modifications. Generally, three inspections are required for new systems.
Submission requirements
- An application or service will not be processed until all fees are paid in full.
- All permit applications must include all required documents.
- Documentation must be provided in a legible, complete format.
- Do not send photos of your application (for example, cellphone pictures).
- You must submit original paper copies or clear, printable scanned documents (PDF preferred).
- This ensures the application meets the requirements of Section 8 of the Building Code Act, 1992 and Division C of the Ontario Building Code.
Please note that inspectors are not permitted to assist applicants with design specifications regarding sewage system permit applications. Please contact a licensed sewage system designer and/or installer or refer to the Ontario Building Code for further information.
