A visible bloom of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) has been observed in Whitewater Lake. The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has advised Public Health Sudbury & Districts that after testing samples taken Friday, September 17, 2024, from that bloom, blue-green algae has been confirmed. The 2024–2025 season’s first four confirmed infections of influenza virus have been reported within Public Health Sudbury & Districts’ service area.
