Eligibility for publicly funded high-risk pediatric pneumococcal vaccine (Pneu-C-20) for children aged 6 weeks to 17 years

Ontario has expanded its publicly funded pneumococcal vaccine program to include high-risk children (aged 17 and under) with specific medical and non-medical conditions that increase their risk of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD).

Effective immediately

  • Eligible children who completed their Pneu-C-13 vaccine series may receive one dose of Pneu-C-20.
  • Children who have already received a pneumococcal series that includes at least one dose of Pneu-C-20 do not need another dose.

Providers may use their current supply of Pneu-C-20 for eligible children. Dose requirements vary by product, age, immunization history, and risk. Please see the fact sheets below for full eligibility details and guidance.

Adult eligibility remains unchanged and is included for convenience.
