Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program

Learn about the program, eligibility, and how to apply to access free, routine dental care for eligible seniors 65 years or older, through the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (Ontario.ca).

Frequently asked questions

Our staff can help make sure you have properly completed the application form and have all the supporting documents needed to apply.

  • Once you have been approved, a welcome package and dental card will be mailed to you.
  • To receive services, you must call the seniors dental clinic to let them know that you have received your card.
  • A staff member will book an appointment with you at the first available opening. Due to high demand, there may be a wait-list.
  • Your dental card must be presented at the time of the appointment.
  • You will be notified by mail, each year, if you are eligible for continued participation in the program, or about how to re-apply to the program.

  • restorative services to repair broken teeth and cavities
  • x-rays
  • oral surgery services to remove teeth or abnormal tissue
  • anaesthesia
  • endodontic services to treat infection and pain
  • periodontal services to treat gum conditions and diseases.

Prosthodontic services, including dentures, will be partially covered.

Dentures are covered under this program but there is a small portion that the senior will need to pay for this service.

Most basic dental treatments are covered at no cost to you. However, if you decide to have services or treatment not covered under the program then you will be responsible for these costs. There are patient costs associated with denture treatment.

OSDCP can only pay for dental treatment for seniors who are enrolled in the program before treatment was started.

The health unit may be able to assist with some travel related expenses. Please contact our seniors dental care clinic for more information.
