This role extends from providing education and information to monitoring water safety and enforcing legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-safe-potable-drinking-water\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safe (potable) drinking water<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Portable water&nbsp;is <strong>water that is safe to drink<\/strong>.&nbsp;We use it in our daily lives at home, school, the office, or while out in the community. In Ontario, fluoride levels are regulated under the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/02s32\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/02s32\">Safe Drinking Water Act<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also support families by offering free fluoride treatments to children who are at higher risk for tooth decay. A registered dental hygienist screens children in schools and clinics, so those who need extra protection can get it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list mht-list\">\n<li>Community water fluoridation is a safe, effective way to reduce cavities\/tooth decay.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fluoride is a natural mineral found in most water, even in oceans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most water does not have enough fluoride to stop tooth decay.
