You may not know that your drug is laced with carfentanil.<\/li>\n<li>Comes in many forms: powder, pill, liquid and blotter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Prevent opioid overdose \/ save lives:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid mixing drugs, including prescribed, over the counter and illegal drugs.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid drinking alcohol while using other drugs.<\/li>\n<li>When switching substances or if you have not used in a while, start with a lower dose.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid using drugs when you are alone. If this is not possible, ask a friend to check in on you.<\/li>\n<li>When using drugs with a friend, do not use at the same time.<\/li>\n<li>Carry a naloxone kit.<\/li>\n<li>Use multiple doses of naloxone as needed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Call 911<\/strong> if you suspect an overdose.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Overdose symptoms include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Blue lips or nails<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness and confusion<\/li>\n<li>Can\u2019t be woken up<\/li>\n<li>Choking, gurgling or snoring sounds<\/li>\n<li>Slow, weak or no breathing<\/li>\n<li>Drowsiness or difficulty staying awake<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"LTR\" align=\"LEFT\">For a free naloxone kit, contact <i>The Point <\/i>at Public Health Sudbury &amp; Districts, R\u00e9seau Access Network, Sudbury Action Centre for Youth (SACY) or ask your local pharmacist.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/get-naloxone-kits-free\">www.ontario.ca\/page\/get-naloxone-kits-free<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PDF version of this drug alert (306 KB) Increase in Carfentanil in Ontario confirmed by the Ministry of Health.
